Argonne national laboratories

Energy modelling for Building 240 of the campus. Baseline model was compared with actual energy bills to fine tune results. Various energy saving solutions were identified and presented.

wind turbines for tall buildings

Tall buildings can be an advantage for wind turbine power generation as the wind speed increases dramatically with height above the ground.  The wind speed can be further enhanced by funneling the wind between tall structures. This thesis explores and documents this effect with different shape tower designs with wind tunnel and CFD modeling.

combining culture with energy efficiency in a tall building

The design of an 80-story residential tower in Doha, Qatar utilizing fundamental cultural aspects. Optimized solar shading is provided with structural cables to provide protection from the hot sun and privacy for the residents. At regular intervals through the tower amenity green spaces are provided for common use.
